Understanding Shopify Fees
Two kinds of Shopify fees
Shopify charges a payment-processing fee on every card sale (2.5–2.9% + 30¢ depending on plan when using Shopify Payments). Separately, if you use a third-party gateway like PayPal instead, Shopify adds a transaction fee of 0.6–2% on top. Using Shopify Payments avoids that second fee.
Which plan is cheapest?
Higher monthly plans (Grow, Advanced) lower your per-transaction rate. There is a crossover volume where the cheaper per-transaction rate outweighs the higher monthly fee — worth calculating once your sales scale.
