Default rate reflects Stripe's standard US pricing for domestic online cards (2.9% + $0.30 per successful charge), per stripe.com/pricing as of June 2026. Manually-entered cards (+0.5%), international cards (+1.5%), and currency conversion (+1%) cost more. Edit the fields for your exact rate.

Understanding Stripe Fees

How Stripe charges

Stripe charges a percentage of the transaction plus a small fixed fee per successful charge. In the US the standard online rate is 2.9% + $0.30. The fixed fee makes small transactions disproportionately expensive — a $5 charge loses ~9%, while a $500 charge loses ~3%.

When your rate differs

International cards, manually keyed entries, currency conversion, and in-person payments all carry different rates. High-volume merchants can also negotiate custom pricing. Always edit the rate fields to match your real Stripe agreement.

Fees and your pricing

Payment fees come straight out of margin. Knowing your true net-of-fees revenue is essential before you set or cut prices to match a competitor. Price Patrol helps you stay competitive without unknowingly pricing below your fee-adjusted floor.
