Barcodes for Your Store
Which format do I need?
UPC-A is the standard for retail products in the US and Canada (12 digits). EAN-13 is the global retail standard (13 digits). Code 128 is a flexible format for internal labels and shipping. ITF-14 is used on cartons and cases. If you sell through major retailers, you usually need a UPC/EAN purchased from GS1.
Where barcode numbers come from
To sell in most retail stores, your barcode numbers (GTINs) must be registered with GS1 so they are globally unique. This tool turns a valid number into a scannable barcode image — it does not assign you an official GS1 number.
Barcodes and pricing
A barcode identifies the product; the price is set by you and your competitors. Once your catalog is barcoded and listed, Price Patrol monitors what competitors charge for the same products so you stay competitively priced.
